Ingredients of Classic Chicken Parmesan
- 3 1⁄2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup plain bread crumbs
- 3⁄4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce, divided
- 2 tsp. dried basil
- 2 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 lb. mozzarella cheese, shredded
Steps To Make Classic Chicken Parmesan
Preheat oven to 375°F. Place chicken breasts between sheets of waxed paper and pound to an even thickness.
Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl. Place the bread crumbs in a separate shallow bowl. Place the flour in a third bowl. Lightly dust the chicken with the flour. Dip in the egg, then coat in the bread crumbs.
Heat the oil over medium-high heat in a large sauté pan. Add the breaded chicken and quickly brown on each side, remove, and drain on paper towels.
Ladle 1⁄2 cup marinara in the bottom of a large baking pan. Place the chicken in the pan in a single layer. Top with the remaining sauce and season with the basil, oregano, and pepper. Top with the cheese.
Bake for 20 minutes.
