Ingredients of Sesame & cherry biscuits

  • 1/2 cup (70g) sesame seeds
  • 3/4 cup (115g) self-raising flour
  • 1 1/4 cups (190g) plain flour
  • 185g butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup (175g) caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or essence
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 100g glace cherries, halved

Steps To Make Sesame & cherry biscuits

Method

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper. Cook the sesame seeds in a small frying pan over a medium heat, tossing constantly until golden. Spoon onto a plate.
  • Step 2
    Place flours and butter in a food processor and process until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  • Step 3
    Add the caster sugar, egg yolk, vanilla and milk. Process until mixture forms a ball. Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls.
  • Step 4
    Roll in the toasted sesame seeds. Place onto the trays and gently press one halved glace cherry into each biscuit.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Set aside to cool.
