  • 2 brown onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 thick sausages
  • 2 x 35cm-long baguettes
  • Rocket leaves, to serve

Steps To Make Sausage and onion rolls


  • Step 1
    Make tomato sauce Combine tomatoes, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, and salt and pepper in a saucepan. Bring to the boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, partially covered, for 10 to 15 minutes or until sauce thickens. Set aside to cool.
  • Step 2
    Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes or until tender and golden. Remove to a plate. Add remaining oil and sausages to frying pan. Cook, turning occasionally, for 8 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Step 3
    Cut each baguette in half crossways. Split each piece through the centre, taking care not to cut all the way through. Place a sausage into each baguette. Top with onions and tomato sauce. Serve with rocket leaves.
